Ceylon (Sri Lanka) Koi Society was founded in early 2022 by a group of Koi enthusiasts in Sri Lanka. Meetings are held every month to provide a variety of activities including
lectures, pond visits as well as an opportunity to meet other enthusiasts.
The Society will facilitate assistance in all phases of Koi keeping, from pond design and construction, to selecting,
breeding, feeding, and preparing Koi for competitions.
Our members come from every walk of life, residents in Sri Lanka and Non-residents, their ponds come in every type of format
used in Koi keeping, from “simple” liner ponds to large professionally built Koi ponds to indoor ponds.
Members vary in their approach to Koi keeping, with some being more involved with the showing of Koi at Koi shows,
growing Koi at grow out competitions and those who prefer to just “keep” beautiful Koi and water gardens.
We all share the same passion to the hobby and are simply Koi Kichi!!
Our members participate in international Koi competitions and we intend to host the yearly Ceylon Koi Show which is open to the public. We facilitate a yearly auction to enable members to buy and sell Koi and Koi related items. - There are often some real bargains to be had.
As a group we continuously discuss and support each other with matters related to Koi keeping. It’s an opportunity to learn from our mistakes (between us we have made quite a few!) rather than making the same mistake yourself, sometimes expensive and often heartbreaking. Of course, we do share our success stories too!
The aim of the SOCIETY shall be for the mutual benefit of members interested in all aspects of keeping koi Carp, the
single or multicolored variety of Cyprinus Carpio also known as Nishikigoi.
To foster enjoyment and better understanding of Koi and the hobby, while creating and enlarging
the hobby of koi keeping, breeding, appreciating, exhibiting and sharing knowledge to promote a
spirit of fellowship amongst local and international Koi enthusiasts.
